Narrative Writing

We have been learning to write narratives using picture prompts.  Some of the things we have talked about are the structure and language features.  We have used this image to help us with the structure.

We have also spent some time talking about descriptive language and hooking the reader in.  Here are some of the story starts that relate to this picture:-

The wind raced like a cheetah. Flashy bright lightning bolts lit up the blue rumbling
water. Loud thunder roared like a lion hunting. Pirates held hands as they took
their last breath. Tears came down from their eyes as they sank into the deep ugly
sea. by Talisa

The lightning struck the sea and made the sea like a Tsunami. I saw some old pirates in a old pirate
ship all the flags was ripped in half. Most of the pirates didn’t survive because they were struck by
lightning multiple times on the ship. by Nuu

Ten years ago my uncle got stranded out at sea. There was a super storm. The lightning struck the boat
like a humongous, heavy hammer. Waves were rocking the boat from port to starboard. It was like a
tidal wave. There was a loud wind howling like a wolf. The thunder roared like a cracking whip, it went
through the side of the boat. by Xaviar
