Maria Gill - Duffy Assembly

We have been lucky enough to have a visit from an author called Maria Gill.  She has written a lot of non-fiction books.  She believes that. "...reading a book is like having a super power as it transports you to other worlds."

She has been inspired by famous New Zealanders in her writing and asked us questions to see if we could figure out who she was talking about.  We also had some people go up the front to act out a book she has written about what happens in the forest with the kiwi eggs.  Mrs Gill also spent some time talking about animals from in the war.

At the end of the assembly we were given our Duffy Books.  We had a great time reading them in class and have now taken them home.
