Today we had our second rugby ready session. Today we concentrated on the skills of falling when being tackled, moving our feet, passing backwards, having our hands ready and talking. We did some skills and then a game with an imaginary ball. This was really hard because we had to communicate well.
This sounds like heaps of fun. I can't imagine what it would be like to play with an imaginary ball. You must be a very clever class. I am pleased you shared the photos to help make sense of this for someone like me who was not there when this took place.

Hi Mrs Burt. Thank you for commenting on our class blog. We're happy you like the photos we took. Have you ever played rugby before? from Venice and Nevaeh.
DeleteI really like rugby Rm 7, as does Mr Collins who coaches it and referees some junior games, as does my youngest son who is at rugby college in Y9. He used to play hooker but he got too tall so now he plays lock, but at least he gets to play with a real ball. Communication on the pitch is vital so listen to each other, your coach and your referee. Train hard, play fair and who knows we might see a future Black Fern or All Black come out of Hornby Primary School.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment Mrs Collins. Does your school do anything like 'Rugby Ready?" from Jaedun and Angus.
DeleteHi Jaedun and Angus. The schools I work in have lots of rugby teams...but my old school (Glen Innes School) had their first ever boys rugby team in 2017 (The G.I Grenades) and their first ever girls rugby team (The G.I Gladiators) in 2018. Some of my students play for clubs as well. What about you...do you play for a club?
ReplyDeleteHi Mrs Collins, I used to be in a rugby league team - the Hornby Panthers but I stopped because I didn't want to let my team down when I went to hospital. I got diagnosed with type 1 diabetes 2 years ago. From Jaedun.
