Duffy Theatre Visit

Today we were lucky enough to have a visit from the Duffy Theatre Troupe.  There was an actor playing Duffy and two actresses, Rhea and Neve, playing other roles.

The storyline of this year's play was:

Duffy likes a computer game that builds things, called 'Magic Bricks'.  He is writing a book about it with the tips and tricks. 

Duffy goes to stay with his aunty and cousin in the holidays and his cousin, Sam, is addicted to playstation games. She thinks Duffy is silly for reading.

Duffy tries to get Sam's attention but gets sucked into the video game after he wore nanas glasses and danced like her. 

Duffy gets chased by the a character in the game called The Dismantler, they make friends after a while. Duffy has to find a way out of the game before he gets pixelated. 

Duffy gets some helpers to make a word. The word is 'Inventor.' 

Sam reads Duffy book to try to find a way to get Duffy out. Sam puts on nana's glasses and dances. She gets pulled into game too. Duffy is nearly pixelated. 

Sam takes the book into game and they figure out that nana was a computer scientists.  They get a clue that says, "Turn yellow to blue," They have to make a new word out of the blocks. Whetu is the word and that was nana's name.  

Sam and Duffy realise that nana had invented the game. They have to do a special dance to get out of the game.  

Nana was a self taught programmer who learnt how to programme from books at the library.  Sam and Duffy decide reading is good and they are both going to write stories.
