On the 31st of July we were lucky enough to have 5 people visit from the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra. The told us about their instruments and the different sounds they made. We listened to them play individually and as part of a group. The instruments they had with them were a violin, a viola, a clarinet, an oboe and a trumpet.
Hi Room 7, I enjoyed reading your CSO post. I was able to see some of the performance and everyone seemed to be enjoying it. I wish I had seen Sophia conducting, that must have been quite a sight! Has the visit made any of you want to be able to play a musical instrument?

Hi it's Room 7 here. Thank you for commenting on our blog. After the visit we have people wanting to play some instruments, Sophia want to play the piano, Sonnie wants to play the trombone, Bryce wants to play the guitar, Ahyan wants to play the ukulele, Shylah and Jaedun want to play the drums, Tiana wants to play the flute or harp.
DeleteSean is currently taking guitar lessons with a teacher outside of school time.
Kia ora Room 7,
ReplyDeleteWe in Te Ropu Manawaroa loved the music that Sophia conducted with the CSO. We liked how she controlled the timing and tempo with the conductor stick.
We have been learning how to play the recorder. Our recorders came with a stick, that is for cleaning the inside. When some of us first got them, we thought they were conductor sticks.
Next time, it'd be great if we could see all of the instrument players.
How did Sophia feel after conducting the orchestra?
What is the name of the song they played?
Did you learn how the CSO players became interested in becoming musicians?
Hi, Te Ropu Manawaroa. Thank you for commenting on our blog. Sophia felt happy and little bit nervous when she was conducting. We weren't told the name of the piece she conducted. We had a chance to ask questions at the end and found out how long each person had been playing.
