Today in Cyber smart we were talking about public and private information. This is important because we need to know what is safe to share on-line.
After watching some clips about public and private we made a google drawing to show our understanding. Here are some examples of the drawings we made.
We are a Year 5 and 6 class at Hornby Primary School. We work digitally 1:1 and our teacher is Miss Scott. We believe we are an awesome class and are willing to work hard to reach our potential.

Geometry
Today, in maths, we were learning how to describe 2 dimensional shapes. We learnt so new ways to describe the shapes.
The activity we did involved Miss Scott describing the shapes she was drawing (using all the proper terms). Then
we drew the shapes.
After a while we split into small groups and all took turns describing the shape we had drawn. The others in the group had to draw what we were describing.

Fantastic Fundraisers
During Term 2 the amazing PSG (Parent Support Group) ran a fundraiser. We had to sell reusable shopping bags, reusable produce bags or bandaids.
The top 3 sellers got major prizes.
Everyone who sold ten items got a minor prize
There were also spot prizes.
Here are some Room 7 students with their prizes.

Miss McDonald Leaving
Term 2 was a very busy one for us all. One of the highlights was having such an amazing Trainee Teacher in our class. She was fun, kind, nice, organised and taught us some interesting things. We will all miss her. She was very kind and gave us a book and a puzzle before she left.
Thank you Miss McDonald for all you did for us.

Zones Basketball
On Tuesday 2 July Hornby Primary had a team competing in the Zones Basketball Tournament. We finished 2=.
The results of the tournament came down to the very last game with Hornby playing Burnside. Whoever won it would have won the tournament. Unfortunately the game was a draw. This meant that Fendalton was the tournament winner.
Michaela, Kody, Temera and Nuu represented Hornby from Room 7.

- Lunges
- Squats
- Pull Ups
- Planks
- Skipping
- Star Jumps
- Wall Sits
Here we are doing some of the activities.

Decomposers and Pollinators
We have spent some time learning about pollinators and decomposers.
Pollinators are insects like bees. They help plants to grow fruit.
Decomposers are creatures like worms. They eat dead parts of plants.
Here is Fernando's slide show about Bees and Worms

Precious Pigs
One of the many activities we did, during term 2's buddy class time, was make models of pigs. The reason we did this was because both classes have been reading the book "Charlotte's Web". One of the main characters in the book is a pig called Wilbur.
To make the pigs we had to
- colour in the faces (or draw our own)
- make slots for the legs
- glue on the eyes/face/legs/tail/nose
Here are some of the pigs we made.
